Beautiful Births offers a range of antenatal class venues and times to enable you to find a class that fits in with your life style. We are able to offer antenatal classes in parts of Shropshire, Staffordshire and across the West Midlands areas. For a more specific list of the areas are antenatal classes are available in, please see below.

Birth partners play an integral role in supporting the birthing mum. Whilst mums are welcome to attend classes on their own, you may feel the benefit more with your birth companion

During your course of antenatal classes you will

• Learn life skills that you and your partner can use everyday of your lives to enable you to stay calmer, sleep easier and relax quickly and easily - great for bad days at work, trying toddlers!
• Witness  videos of women birthing their babies calmly, completely alert and in good nature, looking in many cases as if they are gently resting.
• Understand how your body gives birth naturally when not effected by fear or drugs
• Understand how fear effects labour and causes pain
• Learn deep relaxation techniques and self hypnosis for use during childbirth and beyond!
• Breathing Techniques for each stage of labour
• Learn light touch massage to release endorphins - your body's own natural relaxant.
• Visualizations
• Learn that natural childbirth doesn't have to be the painful experience you see on TV and in films.
• Know what to expect during your birth including  - signs of labour, positive signs that birth is advancing, the actual moment of birth and beyond
• Options and information to consider for your birth plan along with a suggested birth plan covering much more than your NHS birth plan that is available on your birth notes - including options for cord clamping and care, Physiological third stages / active management, Vaginal examinations and much more.
• Receive relaxation scripts for your birthing companion to use if the two of you wish.
• Practice different birthing positions to find ones that are comfortable for you.
• Learn how to communicate effectively & confidently with medical staff.
• Become empowered, focused and excited about your upcoming arrival!
• Receive handouts to pass onto you midwives detailing specifically how they can support you and your choices throughout your childs birth.
• Should your baby be in the breech position a private session can be arranged as Hypnosis has very good results at assisting babies to turn to the head down position ready for birth - Please ask if you require this session. This is included in the cost of your course and would take place in Gnosall, Stafford. Travel expenses would be payable should you require this session at another venue (e.g. your home)

New Mum Visit

When ever possible it is arranged so that a new HypnoBirthing mum and family will visit to discuss her experiences and answer any questions you may have. (Group classes only)

Pregnancy and birth books available to borrow on a weekly basis during your classes  Including  books by Ina May Gaskin, Janet Balaskas, Dr Grantly Dick Read. On topics such as water birth, natural pregnancy, aromatherapy and more.

Books are kindly donated from previous HypnoBirthing mums and natural birth supporters as well as those collected by Clare. If following your pregnancy and birth you would like to donate any books, they will be grateful accepted and well used!

Optional additional 30 minutes

This is NOT part of HypnoBirthing.

Includes discussion/ video on breastfeeding, post natal depression and real nappy demonstration. Have a look at real nappies and find out about the practicalities of using these environmentally friendly , cute and fluffy nappies!

HypnoBirthing Group Classes

Classes are held over a 5 week period because during classes there is a lot of information and knowledge to take in. Many mums (and dads!) find that being in a learning environment for more than 3 hours at a time very tiring especially when you are heavily pregnant!

People learn best when they have time to consolidate the information learnt and practice between classes. Therefore any questions that arise can easily be covered in the next class on a personal basis instead of over the telephone or by email!

Understandably in some circumstances a shorter course may be best if your baby is expected in three weeks for example! However we strongly recommend  for your personal benefit that you take classes over a period rather than a short intense course!

Group classes are excellent for meeting new like minded people and they are great for dad's and birth companions to meet others in the same position!

We like to arrange a reunion meeting with the HypnoBirthing babies a few months after the birth to share our birth stories!

You should always receive the book and rainbow relaxation cd described above, along with 12+ hours of practice and relaxation.

All pregnant employees are entitled to paid time off to attend antenatal appointments.

Time off for antenatal care should be paid at the employee’s normal rate of pay.

Antenatal care may include relaxation and parentcraft classes (on the advice of a healthcare professional), as well as medical examinations related to the pregnancy,

The entitlement to paid time off for antenatal appointments applies regardless of the employee’s length of service.

If you would like to host a group class in your home and you have room for 3-4 couples to be seated comfortably, please email or call Clare to discuss.

We are looking for locations for classes in the following areas, however please let us know if you are interested but your area is not listed. We will provide refreshments and other delegates.  Classes would be held on Saturday afternoons.
