Birth Preparation Class
Being a birth
companion can be a nerve racking time whether your the dad
to be, the soon to be grandmother or just a friend.
Understanding
what to expect from your perspective and how you can
practically help the mum during the birth will empower you,
enabling you to relax into your role as her birth support
and so providing her with more confidence too.
A little
bit of knowledge goes a long way to make this amazing life
event changing event a positive one for both of you.
We hope you
will find this class informative, fun, and practical, whilst
offering you the opportunity to meet other people in the
same position as you and possibly make life long friends!
Where
and when are classes?
Classes are
held from 7-9pm on Wednesday evenings. Location is to be
confirmed but will be in the vicinity of Penkridge just of
the M6 between junction 13-14.
What
will I learn during the class?
What to expect
during the labour - Signs of labour, positive
signs of birth advancing, the actual birth
What you
can do if birth slows or stalls
How you can
support mum during different stages of the labour birth
including massage, breathing etc
What else you
can do to make the birth environment more pleasant
Your labour bag
and what you could have in it for you and mum!
How can you
help mum grow into her new role as Mummy whist finding your
own role as Daddy.
Postnatal
depression and what to watch for and who to contact.
What support is
available for new dads
Extra's
We will shortly
have a bump bag!
This will
enable birthing companions to experience how 'physically' a
pregnant mum feels carrying her big bump around all of the
time!
